Lewis Gorden Pugh is an adventurer and activist for the environment. His nickname is 'the human polar bear'. He wanted to show how vulnerable the Antarctic ecosystem is, so he decided to swim in its icy waters to attract attention. It was very difficult and dangerous. He only stayed in the water 20 minutes: if you stay in freezing water longer than 20 minutes, you can die! And there were other dangers: aggressive leopard seals and killer sharks that inhabit Antarctica. And Pugh didn't even have a wetsuit on: he was only wearing a Speedo swimsuit! Brrrrrr!
