"Tweens" is a new English term that means young teenagers 11 or 12 years old. And "Tween TV" means television programmes that are for that age group. Today a study shows that programmes like Hannah Montana and iCarly send a message to tweens that that girls should be attractive, no matter what other skills or talents they have, while boys don’t really have to worry about their appearance. Researchers said that in the programmes, girls often acted brave and were smart, but they also had to be pretty. Is that the right message to send to tweens?
